<\/h2>\nThe entrance to the West Tunnel on the city center side is closed due to construction work. Travelers arriving by train can walk to the city center via the other passenger tunnels. Detour routes are indicated by yellow\/black signs. The West Tunnel remains open on the IJ side, and platforms 4 through 15 remain accessible from there.<\/p>\n
The entrances to platforms 1 and 2a in the West Tunnel are going to be closed. Additionally, the stairway to platform 1 from the Station Square will also be inaccessible. Platforms 1 and 2a will then be out of service. Trains that used to depart from here will depart from other platforms. The entrances in the West Tunnel will be demolished, and the platform at platforms 1 and 2a will be completely removed and renewed over a length of 65 meters for a new staircase and elevator.<\/p>\n
The entrance to the NS Ticket and Service Desks has been moved to the front of the station. During the construction work, the night desk is located on the IJ side. The work is expected to last until mid-2024.<\/p>\n
Not all shops can remain open. At the moment, several shops in the West Tunnel are closed. HEMA and Starbucks have moved out of the West Tunnel to new locations, respectively in the IJhal and in the Middentunnel of our station. Additionally, Julia’s, MoonFlower, Kiosk, GWK\/Travelex ATM, and Zest on the eastern side of the West Tunnel are also closed.<\/p>\n
<\/h2>\nThe ramp will be removed. It no longer meets current standards as it is too steep and there is currently no lift to the first platform. The existing ramp will be replaced by stairs and an escalator. Additionally, two lifts will be installed to connect the entrance, the passenger tunnel, and the first platform. The floor will be fitted with the same light tiles as those in the Cuypershal on the city center side of the station. The monumental arch construction under the first platform will also be restored.<\/p>\n
The platforms will be widened and extended, and an additional bicycle parking for over 8500 bikes will be added. This new parking area will connect to a new East Tunnel, three times wider, with shops. On the east side of the station, the East Access Bridges will be renewed, and a grade-separated crossing will be built at the Dijksgracht. The work is extensive \u2013 a complex operation while ensuring that trains continue to run and the station remains open.<\/p>\n
The expectation is that the number of train passengers at Amsterdam Centraal station will increase from 200,000 to 275,000 per day in 2030. More space is needed for passengers and more trains. Passengers will soon be able to take a train every ten minutes between the major cities in the Randstad. There will also be more room for freight transport. This will connect Amsterdam to the rest of the Netherlands and the Netherlands to the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
